LONDON WOOL MARKET. By Telegraph—Press Association. Received January 17, 8.11 a.m. LONDON, January 16. Wool —10,804 bales were offered. There was a large attendance and •active competition for all sections. Americans operated freely. Merinos are in good demand; prices unchanged from closing prices of last series. The crossbreds are a splendid selection, and realised the.high.est December rates. Messrs Levin and Co., Ltd., received the following cable from their London agents dated January 15th:— "'Wool Market—There is a general and active demand. The market is not much changed, but the tedency is in favour of sellers often to the extent of five per cent." WELLINGTON HIDES AND SKINS SALE. Messrs Levin and Co., Ltd., report as follows regarding Wednesday's sa l e: —Only green skins and hides -were offered at to-day's sale, dry skins being held over for next sale on February Ist. -We offered 1,100 skins, 1,000 hides, and a quantity of tallow and horsehair. Skins—We quote: Green lamb skins 2s lOd to 3s 45d, green pelts Is 8d to 3s 6d. Tallow—Parcels in shipping order £25 ss, tins £l7 3s to £2O 3s, rough fat £l4 3s. Horsehair—ls to Is 7d per lb. Horns— 13s 3d to 20s 9d per 100. Hides There /was a large -entry of good hides and a full attendance of buyers, who cleared all lots at full rates. We quote: Ox hides, extra heavy, 6Jd to 6|d; Oxhides, '7olbs and over, 6Jd to 6|d; ox hides, -501bs to 701bs, 61d to 6Jd; cow hides, sfd to 6Jd; calfskins, best •6Jd to 7§d;- calf skins, slippy, 3d to 4d; calf skins, cut, 5d to s£d; •cut and slippy hides, 4Jd to 6d; hides, 4d to 4£d; bull hides, 3£d to 4id. The next sale will be held on Friday. Ist February, 1907. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report:— At Wednesday's sales, held earlier •on account of wool sales falling on Friday, the usual day, only green ; skins, hides and tallow were offered. Buyers attended in usual numbers, ;and prices- were equal to last sales. We quote:—Green pelts, 2s 6d to 3s 7d; lambs, 2s 8d to 3s 4d. Hides: ' Only indifferent lots forward. Medium ox and cow, 6d to 6§d; damaged, sdtos|d; calf, sound, to 7§d; dam- . aged, Id to 5Jd. Tallow: In casks, good mixed 25s to 26s 3d; in tins, 19s .to 19s 3d per cwt.
