MASTERTON STOCK SALE. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., held their fortnightly sale at the Master, ton yards, on Tuesday. The entry of sheep was considerably in excess of any previous yarding this season. There was also a large catalogue of cattlef Doubtless owing to recent rain the demand for sheep was brisk, and with one exception all lines were cleared. -Bidding for cattle was dull, and' very few pens found purchasers. Five-year ewes reached 13s 9d, woolly lambs 9s 3d, shorn lambs 8s to 8s 2d, culls 4s 9d to 6s, 2-tooth ewes 13s, 2-tooth wethers (small), 12s 6d, mixed 2tooths 13s 3d, cull ewes, 7s Id to Bs, empty heifers 30s, store sows 16s to 21s, weaners 10s toJUs 6d. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., report as follows on their Masterton stock sale," yesterday:—All classes of sheep came forward, making a good yarding and with the , recent rains sales were made freely, with the result that'we had at the close of the day only one small lot unsdld. Cattle came forward in fair average numbers, but we regret to say they met with a poor reception. Buyers were slow to operate, the bulk of sales being made privately. Sheep started with shorn ewes and lambs, these selling at 8s 6d all counted; 2-tooth wethers all found purchasers a,t from 13s 4d to 14s 3d; 2 and 4-tooth wethers 15s 3d; one lot of young ewes made 14s 3d; aged ewes 8s 6d to 10s 3d;, culls 5s lOd to 6s. In mutton medium fat ewes 13s, lambs 6s 2d to 9s 3d. Cattle—2 and 3-year steers £2 15s to £3 15s; 2-year steers and heifers £2 5s to £2 7s 6d; forward cows 40s to 455; dairy cows 60s to 80s. Weaner pigs 12s to 14s; , horse, gig, and harness, £ls 10s.
