SCHOOL COMMITTEES' ASSOCIATION.

The adjourned meeting of the Wairarapa School Committees' Association was held yesterday afternoon. There were present: —Messrs R. Brown (chairman), H. Vile (Eketahuna), W. Moore (Carterton), W. Jesson (Mauriceville West), J. C. Cooper (Ihuraua). An apology for absence was received from Mr G. Cobb (Martinborough). A letter was received from the Wellington Education Board with regard to the installation "of sceptic tanks at country schools. The Board had the matter under consideration, but the evidence that had been obtained was not uniformly favourable to the proposal. Legislative changes both as regards Education Boards and School Committees were necessary before any proposal as regards loans could be considered. After a brief discussion the Secetary was instructed to write to the Minister of Education asking him to look into the matter with a view to affording relief to country schools. The Rongomai School Committee wrote stating that it would act on the Association's suggestion, and would apply for a sewing mistress to be i added to the staff at the school. The question of increasing the number of members on the Executive Committee was held over until the next quarterly meeting. It was decided to hold the next meeting in Masterton on March 13th at 11 a.m.
