TICK FEVER. [ Received January 16, 9.49 a.m. BRISBANE, January 16. Tick fever is proving disastrous to the dairy herds in the southern districts. LA CARABINE CUPi ' WON BY HEATHER. RAWHITI FIRST PAST THE POST. Received January 16, 8.46 a.m. MELBOURNE, January 16. The La Carabine Cup was won by the Heather with seven points, the Rawhiti scoring six, and the S.J.S. five. Only four yachts started in the final event.JJj The course was ten miles to windward and back. There was a fine breeze at the start, but it afterwards fell, andjit was insufficient during the return to keep the balloon sails filled. The S.J.S. was first over the line, followed by the Rawhiti and Heather. The Rawhiti rounded the turn 7min 12sec. ahead of Heather, while S.J.S. was 12min 54sec in the Heather. Rawhiti, despite bothering wind, outsailed the others on the return voyage, and passed the finishing line in shrs 44min 44sec. The Heather took 6hrs 17sec, and the S.J.S. 6hrs 17min 19sec. Deducting rating allowances, Heather beat Rawhiti by ,48|sec, and Rawhiti beat S.J.S. by smin 9sec. Received January 16, 9.53 a.m. MELBOURNE, January 16. The New South Wales bowling team, and also the Lord Mayor and Mayoress of left by the Manuka for Auckland to-day. EXHIBITION AT MELBOURNE. Received January 16, 11.23 p.m, MELBOURNE, January 16. Lord Northcote, Qovernor-General, opened in the Exhibition Buildings an Australian ' Manufactures and Produce Exhibition. There is a fine .display of primary products and manufactures of all kinds. Mr A. Deakin, Prime Minister, and others made speeches congratulatory on the advance of Australian manufactures.
