THE TRANSVAAL ELECTIONS. Received January 16, 7.45 a.m. ] PRETORIA, January 15. Sir R. Solomon has resigned the Attorney-Generalship of the Transvaal in order to oppose Sir J. Percy Fitzpatrick for the Pretoria seat in the interests of the Het Volk and Nationalist combination. (Sir Richard Solomon has been Attorney-General. of the Transvaal since 1902. Prior to that date he j had been in politics at the Cape, and > was a member of the Schreiner Ministry ; in 1901 and 1902 he was legal adviser to the Transvaal Administration and Lord Kitchener. He has also served asjActing-Lieutenant-Governor of the Transvaal for periods extending over eighteen months, during the absence of Sir Neville Lyttelton.)
