ROYAL COMIC OPERA COMPANY.

The box plan for the performance of the musical play "The Orchid" which Mr J. C. Williamson's Royal Comic Opera Company will present at the Town Hall, on Friday night next, will he opened at Miss Rive's, at 9 o'clock, this morning. As a record booking is anticipated arrangements have been made to obviate overcrowding by allowing only a limited number to inspect the plans at one time. A contemporary states: —" 'The Orchid' is noted for its exotic beauty, and renowned as being the biggest and brightest production ever staged in Australasia. Quite the Queen of Gaiety successes, with a London run of nearly 600 nights to its credit, its success in Australia ranks next to 'A Gaiety' Girl' and 'Florodora.' " It is said that the authors and composers, scenic painters and costumiers concerned in the production have supplied just the kind of theatrical article most in demand. This was the verdict passed upon the play at the opening of the London Gaiety Theatre when the entertainnment first saw the light in the presence of the King and Queen, three years .ago. "The Orchid" is said to be notable for its gorgeous costumes and rich settings.
