ROYAL COMIC OPERA COMPANY.
On Friday evening next the re-ap-pearance of the Royal Comic Opera Company will be one of exceptional importance owing to the great accounts which have been received of "The Orchid" in London (where it established a record of six hundred nights under Mr George Edwardes' management), and in Sydney and Melbourne, where it was played for nine and ten weeks, respectively. Dealing with the Australian production the critics universally agreed that Mr Williamson had surpassed any of his previous efforts, for a finer spectacle, it is maintained, had not been ..seen in the Commonwealth. Throughout the production there is said to be a secession of settings gorgeous in their liberality The story is said to be much > above the usual character of musical comedies, and the music, contributed by Ivan Caryll, Lionel Monckton, and Paul Rubens, is only what might be ex pected from such pastmasters—it is up to a high standard and vivacious. There is, it is stated, not one dull second in the revelry of "The Orchid, '' and a triumphant uproarious preformance is a foregone conclusion. It is celebrated for its wealth of catchy ' airs, and pretty numbers, including, "Little Mary," "Fancy Dress," "Come Along With Me," "From Far Peru," "I Do-All the Dirty Work," and "When Two Hearts Meet." The box plan will be opened at Miss Rive's to-morrow morning at 9 o'clock.
