It is expected that there will be a good response from owners, and if so the fixture will be quite as successful as .„that of last year. • A\ large number of invitations to attend the meeting have been sent out to different parts ,' of the colony, and this in itself will ensure a very large attendance. The latest addition to H. Fletcher's team at' Clareville is the Lethe mare Wailethe, who will be trained for autumn meetings*. . Pati Pati, By Apremont—Flatter, and therefore a full sister to that good mare, Palaver, has joined M. McGrath's lengthy string at Opaki. This mare injured her knee while in "work three months ago, and has been spelled sjnee. A three-year-old colt by Lethe — Noisette, owned by Mr H. McManaway, has been taken in hand by H. .Fletcher. He is a well-grown colt, j and should be ready, to compete at | autumn fixtures. ■ ■ \ ■ The Musketry gelding Ratu, who was injured by falling at the Maryborough meeting, has been turned out. His shoulder still bears the appearance of the muscles being strained. v . ! 1 Mataari,who has lately been trained - at Ashhurst, has been brought back '. to Wairarapa, and is now an inmate of J. Gravesfock's stable at Clareville., The Martinborough-trained Narcotic will compete in the Nelson Cup to be run this week* At the Hawke's Bay sale of blood stock last week Mr H. McManaway purchased a colt*by Torpedo—Carnelianv and the brood mare Spring, the dam of the same owner's Mahuta.
