The match between Carlton A and Star A resulted in an easy win for Carlton, With six wickets down for 74, Carlton's innings was continued by Hoar and O'Leary. The score was taken to 78. , The next two wickets carried the score to 94. The last batsmen, E. Welch and Congdon, took the score to 120. Congdon played a fine innings for 27, his score including six 3's. E. Welch held his wicket up in fine style, and carried his bat for six. Fysh was the most successful bowler for the Stars, securing four wickets for 40. The Stars required 118 runs to win, but so well did Waters bowl that they only totalled 63. Nauman was top scorer with a neatly-compiled 18. Perry's 16 not out was a really good innings. L. Richards was the only other double-figure scorer, his total of 12 being made by free hitting. Waters has probably never bowled better in Thursday matches. He was practically unplayable, and did the "hat trick." His last five wickets were secured at a cost of six runs. His analysis read:—Overs 12.2, runs 26, wickets 9. This is a really fine performance. The Carlton team fielded splendidly. Carlton B batted first against W.F.C.A. and made only 43 runs, Owen (11) and K. Welch (10) being the only double-figure scorers. Parton bowled well, and took five wickets for 25 runs. Hall secured two wickets for four runs. He bowled seven overs, and in the first six overs he secured two wickets for no runs. The four runs hit off him were scored in the seventh over. W.F.C.A. responded with 103. Williams played a vigorous innings for 30. Scrimgeour (14), Whitt (13), Welch (10), and Pragnell (10 not out), also batted well for their runs. In their second innings Carlton B have lost nine wickets for 107. Long is not out with 49 to his credit. He made his runs by big hitting. His score includes nine 3's, two 4's and a 5. Denby (14) and J. Wickens, snr. (13) also got into double figures.
