ROYAL COMIC OPERA COMPANY.
Mr J. C. Williamson's Royal Comic Opera Company will visit Masterton for one night only, at the Town Hall, on Friday, January 18th. The Company is at present playing in Wellington to enormous business, the attendance and receipts, it is stated, being larger than has been the case with any of Mr Williamson's previous attractions in that city. So great indeed was the interest taken in the production of "The Orchid," which is to be staged here, that before the first performance all the dress circle and reserved stalls were booked for the season. The Company includes Mr George Lauri, Mr C. R. Bantock, Mr Fred. Leslie, and Miss Evelyß Scott. Its new members include Miss Clara Clifton, an experienced actress of the Nellie Farren school, Miss Olive Godwin, a young soprano, Miss Connie Milne, Miss Alma Barber, a brilliant contralto, Mr Arthur Crane, a popular young baritone, Mr W. S. Percy, the clever young comedian with whom play-goers here are already well acquainted, and Mr John Ralston, baritone. Mr Henry Bracy will supervise the staging of the opera, and the Royal Comic Opera chorus and orchestra will be under the baton of Mr Andrew McCunn. The entire Company number nearly 100, and will be transferred in its entirety from the Opera House, Wellington, and the production in all respects will be exactly the same. The box plan will be opened at Miss Rive's, on Tuesday next, at 9 a.m.
