WAIRARAPA AMATEUR ATHLETIC CLUB.
The management committee of the Wairarapa Amateur Athletic Club met last evening-. There were present —Messrs G. W. Sellar (chair), E. Dixon, J. Bradbury, V. Darroch, J. J. Kelliher, A. Williams, and Uren. Mr Fleming - Ross, of the Wellington centre, also attended. Details in reference to the forthcoming sports were gone into, and from the entries received the gathering on Anniversary Day promises to be even more successful than the club's meeting last year. Entries have been received from Wellington, Wanganui, and all over the Wairarapa district, and the list includes such athletes as H. Henderson, exchampion of Victoria (100 yards), who defeated Nigel Barker, who was chosen to represent Australia at the Olympic Games in Rome last year (Henderson is also this season's Wellington 100 yds and 220 yds provincial champion), the Goodbehere Brothers, Prendeville, Wilton and other well-known runners. The walking events also promise to be well contested and a good contest should result between Fleming Ross, who holds the New Zealand two mile record, and Kerr, who on New Year's Day at Wellington bi'oke the mile record. Special arrangements have been made for the comfort and convenience of the public. The Tea Kiosk recently erected in the Park, being in most capable hands, should help to supply a long;-felt want. A band will be in attendance, and will enliven the proceedings, and the presence of several pipers should also help to make the sports a pleasant afternoon's out;ng.
