MAGISTRATE'S COURT.

MASTERTON-THURSDAY. (Before Mr W. P. James, S.M.) Judgment for plaintiff by default, with costs, was given in each of the following debt cases: —John Hennesy v. Edward Coyle, claim £l4 6s, costs £1 10s6d;C. E. Daniell v. B. Holmwood, claim £5 2s £d, costs £1 3s 6d; A. Fraser v. H. Littlewood, claim £27 18 9d, costs £2 14s. William Frank Shaw claimed from Charles Presswood, junr., the possession of chattels valued at £5 ss. Defendant was ordered to return the chattels on or before January 24th. In the case of Donald McKenzie, James Hayes, and Phillip Crewe v. Charles Reside, a claim for £4B 10s 4d, judgment was given for McKenzie and Hayes with costs £5 6s 6d, and Crewe was nonsuited. In the judgment summons case of F. Staples v. Thomas Arthur Ashworth, a claim for £2O 13s 4d, an order was made for payment forthwith, in default twenty days' imprisonment. The order was suspended so long as defendant paid £2 per fortnight, first payment to be made on January 24th.
