MASTERTON SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

MONTHLYpEETING.

The monthly meeting of the Masterton School Committee was held last evening. There were present— Messrs R. Brown (chairman), W. Gillespie, J. Carpenter, H. O'Leary,. W. A. Fendall, and G. Townsend. The Secretary reported a credit balance of £2O 13s. Accounts mounting to £2B 6s Id were passed, for payment. Mr Thos. Duncan wrote resigning as a member of the committee. The resignation was received with regret.

A letter was received from the Education Board : stating that the work of the Side School: had been deferred. A letter was received from the Traffic Superintendent of Railways stating that the Union Steam Ship Company had decided to carry school girls in parties of from 200 to 300, between Wellington and Lyttelton from January 15th onward during the course of the Exhibition, the return steamer fares being 15s school girls and 20s for teachers and adults in charge up to ten per cent, of the total number of children. Tickets would be available for one week.. The letter was referred to the visiting members to confer with the headmaster and the parents of the children in the matter.

Messrs Fendall, Gillespie and O'Leary were re-appointed the visiting members for the month.
