RAILWAY MEN AND THE TRANSVAAL ELECTIONS. Received January 9, 8.13 a.m. JOHANNESBURG, Jan. 8. At a Labourite meeting at Johannesburg, attended by three thousand persons, a resolution was adopted urging Lord Elgin, Colonial Secretary, to withdraw the circular prohibiting six thousand railway men from actively participating in the elections. DINIZULU'S COMPLICITY IN THE RECENT RISING. EVIDENCE INSUFFICIENT. Received January 9, 9.15 a,m. PIETERMARITZBURG, Jan. 8. The . Natal Government considers that the evidence of Dinizulu's complicity in the recent native rising is insufficient to enable them to prosecute him. INDIAN. SETTLERS. Received January 9, 8.20 a.m. CAPETOWN, January 8. Lord Elgin, having allowed the Vrededorp stands' ordinance, which deals with land locations, has greatly disappointed British Transvaal Indians. Their committee describes the Minister's action as equivalent to withholding leases and compelling hundreds of British Indians to quit their homes without compensation for their outlay on improvements.
