Mason beat Forsyth, Kummer beat Gould, Kelling beat Crakanthorp, Grierson beat Barnes, James beat Gifford, Sexton beat Cummings. Sixteenth round.— Barnes beat Edwards, James beat Sexton, Davies beat Gifford, Forsyth beat Parker, Crakanthorp beat Viner, Pleasants beat Gould, Kummer beat J. Mason, B. Mason v. Grierson drawn, Cummings v. Stewart drawn. Crakanthorp played a masterly game, and never gave Viner a chance. The latter resigned on the 30th move with nearly all the pieces on the board. The scores at the end of the 16th round are as follows:
