Received jJanuary 7, 10.2 p.m. ROME, January 7. Regarding Mariam, the Abyssinian outlaw, who in April last raided a number of Soudanese villages, the II Messagero, Rome, states that Lieutenant Pollera was sent to Noggera, within the Italian sphere, to inquire into the raids. The British Government, however, were dissatisfied, and as a result had • the chief of Noggera arrested, after insisting on this course, at Adis-Abeba, the Abyssinian capital, and obtaining Pollera's departure. *La Tribuna says thatjPollera was simply re-called.
