WILD SCENES IN NEW YORK,

' Many grotesque suppers were given in New "York on New Year's Eve.
Broadway was jammed with a yelk ing mob. Mrs Minnie Fiske, the well-known actress, banqueted her millionaire friends and their pets at Chicago. Ten brought prize pigs, which, decorated with ribbons, were seated beside theirj owners, and regaled *on asparagus , tips and brussels sprouts with Lyonnaise dressing. Other guests brought a game cock, a rabbit, a pigeon, a parrot, a chameleon, and a squirrel.
PANDEMONIUM AT VIENNA

The New Year was welcomed in Vienna by a pandemonium of whistles, rattles, and fireworks. A cakewalk was danced outside the Cathedral, and women drove about lowering from their carriages little live pigs, which were chased squeaking through the streets.
