EAST COAST SPORTS.

(Special to the Age.)

' The annual East Coast Sports were held at Homewood last Saturday. The weather was gloriously fine, a stiff, cool, southerly wind making the temperature quite pleasant. The attendance was large, being a fully representative gathering from all parts of the district. In every, respect the promoters are to be congratulated upon the success of the sports. Of the twenty-three events on the programme, seventeen were open to all-comers, and the remaining six to local competitors only. A new feature was a fat sheep weight guessing competition. There was also a shooting gallery on the ground. Mr W. C. Buchanan, Patron of the Sports, was present. All the events passed off without a hitch. A fair number of competitors took part in each event. One special ment for outside competitors was the substantial prize money offered, considerably over £SO being distributed in cash or trophies. Mr G. H. Perry, of Masterton, acted as judge in the horse events, and in that capacity gave every satisfaction. At the conclusion of the sports cheers were given for the energetic President (Mr J. H.
