INVERCARGILL, January 2.

While returning from the Bluff regatta George Price, 15 years of age, fell off the railway platform, and had his leg badly mangled, necessitating amputation. On the first day of the Southland Racing Club's meeting there was a record attendance. The sum of £5,278 was put through the totalisator, against £3,193 last year. Prior to leaving for the North Sir Joseph Ward was entertained by the Bluff Regatta Committee, replying in a happy local .vein to complimentary references and good wishes.
