HIGH COMMISSIONER'S REPORT. By Telegraph—Press Association. WELLINGTON, January!. The Department of Industries and Commerce has received the following cable from the High Commissioner, dated London, December 29th:—The mutton market is very quiet, and no business doing. ' There is no change in the prices, but a fall is expected. The lamb market is dull. Australian arrivals are very heavy, and the market seems likely to decline. Australian lamb is of very good quality this season, and is at an average price of s|d per lb. The beef market is weak. Supplies of American chilled beef are large. There are no changes in prices to report since last week.' The butter market is dull on account of heavy arrivals. There is a fair demand for better grades. Choice New Zealand is quoted at 110s, Australian 105s, Danish 122s per cwt. There is a good demand for cheese, New Zealand makes selling at 60s 6d per cwt. The hemp market is steady. There is no business doing on account of the holidays. There is no alteration in the cocksfoot market since last week. The wool market is firm with a hardening tendency. Trade is good and likely to continue so.
