OPERATIVES DISCHARGED.
ASSASSINATION AND ROBBERY,
ST, PETERSBURG, Dec. 30. Thirty thousand cotton operatives at Lodz," in Russian, Poland, have been discharged. Ninety per cent, of them were anxious to work, but refused the owners' conditions, owing to fear of the terrorists, who are responsible for twelve murders during the last three days, including a directior of one of the principal works. There is great distress among the operatives owing to the absence of funds. Five men armed with revolvers held up a tax-collector in a train proceeding to Rostov, and escaped with 20,000 roubles (rather more than £2,100). Three men assassinated M. Litvinoff, Governor of Akmolinsk, outside the administrative office at Omsk. The assassins escaped in a cab.
