ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
i Ry Telegraph—Press Association. AUCKLAND, December 23. A fatal accident occurred at Mount Albert Railway Station late on Saturday night. A married man, named lirooks, was getting off one of the carriages before tbe train stopped. He fell and getting under the wheels three cariiogaa ran over him. He was terribly out about, and sncoambed almost immediately to his Injuries. NAPIER, December 23. A man, named Wm. Goullet, employed on the breakwater, met with a fatal accident about 6.30 on Saturday evening. Goullet' was engaged in stripping tbe monkey in connection with the pile driving operations, and by some inaans overbalanced himself, and swung round as tbe monkey descended, causing it to strike him as it fell, The deceased's right arm was severed from the body, and all the shoulder bones were broken, tbe dhoulder and elbow being literally smashed to a palp. After being struck the body fell into tbe water and sank, being recovered about 45 minutes afterwards by the Harbour Master. The deceased was 33 sears of age, and is a married man with one child. A young man, named Ernest Austin, met with a serious accident in Carlyle Street las': evening. He was seen riding down the street leading another horse. He was thrown from tbe horse he was riding, aud bis foot caught in the stirrup, and lie was dragged some distance. His face was badly bruised, and tbero is slight concussion of tbe brain. He was admitted to the Hospital, where he is doing as well as could be expected.
