BELLEVUE GARDENS.

A deputation yesterday waited on the Premier asking that the Govern nient should acquire Bellevue Gardens at Lower tlu.t, which the present owner says he will out up foi- building sites. Sir J. G. Ward said that the Government had no power to purchase the gardens. If local bodies really desired to purchase the property he was prepared without in auy way committing the Government on the subject to introduce legislation next session empowering the acquisition of the gardens by the local bodies interested..
