THE PORTSMOUTH RIOTS.
Received December 18, 9.50 p.m. LONDON, December 18. The Admiralty has reduced the sentence imposed on Stoker Moody, ringleader of the Portsmouth stokers, riot to three years, and have directed that the "on the knee order" be only used in future for military purposes. The Admiralty has relieved Commodore Stopford of his command for failing to display firmness and resource, and similarly punished Commanders Drury, Lowe, and Mitchell for neglecting their duties.
