CHRISTCHURCH WOOL SALES.

The second of this season's aerioa of local wool sales opened at tne Canterbury Hall, to-day, when 21,347 bales were oatalogaed, as against 22,755 bales at the corresponding sale last year. There was again a large attendance of Home, Continental, American, and local buyers. Included in the offerings were a large number of good station and farmers' clips. At the same time there wna a larger proportion of earthy wools than was offered previously. There was a keen demand for all classes of good wools, especially for halfbred and fine crossbred, and, allowing for the better quality of some of the clips, prices were firmer than at the previous sale. Medium wools were without change; rough and earthy descriptions were uegleotad, as were the few lots of medium and inferior merino that were submitted. Only a small proportion of wool was passed iu, and tho spirited demaud kept up till the adjournment. The range o" prices was as follows: —Super merino 12d to medium and inferior merino 9d to super halfbied 13d to 15d, medium lid to inferior 9><jd to 10% d, Oorriedale 12d to 15d, super threequarter-bred 12d to 12) ad, mediuu- to ll%d, inferior 9}od to super cross bred 12(1 cd medium lOd to ll%d, inferior 8 Vod to 9%d, Sbropahires to 12Vnd, Southdown 12d to ltd, firat halfbrod pieces lOd to 12d, second pieces to 9%d, first crossbred pieces 8d to lOd, Sdcond pieces 6d to 7%d, looks 5d to 6^d.
