SCHOOL COMMITTEES' ASSOCIATION.

QUARTERLY MEETING. The quarterly meeting of 'th'& Wairarapa Sobool Committees' Association was held in the Borough Council Chambers yesterday morning. There were present—Messrs K. Brown (Masterton, obairmau), W. W. Jessdn (Mauricevilla West), D. Pitoaithly (Kongomai), W. J. .Hart and W. Moore (Carterton i, E. Rnse (fceruridge), F. Court (Waihakeke), 0. 0. Jackson (Dreyerton). Mr Jesson reported the result of the deputation's interview with the Minister of Education some time ago with reference to the Education Board obtaining a loan for., the purpose of providing septic tanks for all schools in the Wellington Education District. It was thought that the matter should again be brought under <;he notice of the Board, and it was decided to request the Board to consider the question of installing sepfcio tanks at the sobools where required aa a matter of urgency. Mr Pitoaithly made reference to the matter of pome of the pupils at the Kongomai' School being left without a teacher while the present teaoher wbb attending to the Agricultural Class at the School. The Secretary was instructed to ask the Education Board whether they had given the matter consideration, A ciroular was received from' the Secretary of Education stating that the Government would grant free rail and steamer fares at rates to be approved of by the Department, to any School Cadet Battalion of a minimum strength of 200, to attend the International Exhibition at GbristchuTOh. Where there wen* no Cadet Corps at sobools, arrange-, ments had been made whereby sobool children, to the number of not less than 200 and not more than 300, would be carried at "day sohuol party" rates, and would be allowed a reduction in fares by the Union Steam Ship Company. The Secretary was instructed to write to the various School Committees in the district in order to' ascertain how many children would be able to avail themselves of the opportunity of a visit to the Exhibition in February. Mr W. Moore was elected to the Committee of the Association vice Mr Feist, of ; Carterton, who is leaving the district. It wa-i decided to hold another meeting of the Association on January 17th, ou wbub date nominations for the remaining t flpft vacancies on the committee will close.
