HENDERSON CUP. OARLTQN A v. CARTERTON. The match between the Curfccrtou «nd Oar!ton A teama was commenced on the Park ; yesterday afternoon. Carlton won the toss, but sent Carterton to the wickets. JMaunsell and Hart were the first two batsmen, bat a; throu Hoar bowled Hart. Beechey and Alauneell carried the score by threes aud fours to 25, when tbe partnership was dissolved by Oongdon bowling Maunsell with a splendid hall. Beechey and Feast brought the total to 51, tbeu Beecbey retired, being smartly caught behind the wioketa by Darvill off Hoar. Beeche? made 34 by pretty cricket. The remainder of the team could do nothing wit.h tbe bowling of Prow and Hoar, and the innings closed for 72. Prow was in good , form with tbe ball, and liis analysis teads: Overs 4.1, wickets 4, runs 8. Hoar howled well too. Ho had nine overs, securing 4 wioketa for 37 runs. Bewley and Prow opened for Carlton, facing the bowling of Maunsell and Phelps. Both batsmen played oarefully, tbe first eight overs producing bat five runs. After nearly 15 overs bad been bowled Williams, senr., caught Bewley off Maunsell. The score ass 20. Bewley made 13 by nice cricket. F. Welch joined Prow. At 31 Beechey canght Welch off Maunsell. Redmond was bowled by Maunsell without the score beins altered. The partnership between ' Prow aud Swan was productive of somo really good cricket. Both batsmen batted confidently, and they gradually piled the iuus on. Prow. QPtined out and banged the bowling about. Eighty-two was up before Beechey disposed of Prow. The retiring batsman had made 42 by sound, cricket. He bas seldom shown better form on* the Park. His spore included seven 3's, five 2'« and a 4. At 86 Swan lost |Hoar, and the total was still tbe same when Swan retired, after making 13 by careful orioket. Darvill and N. Boyd be■came associated, and tbe field spread out. The board showed 108 when Darvill retired after making 11 •(including a four and a five). W. Boyd and N. Boyd took the score to 113, and W. Boyd and Oongdon to 119. W. Uoyd's score inoluded a hit which produced 6—3 off tbe bat and 3 for an overtbrow. Oongdon and E. Welch, the last men, oairied the score to 128. E. Welch made 7, including a fine bit tor 4. Oongdon was not out with one to Jaie credit. STaK V. W.F.C.*. . The Star and W.F.O.A. teams commenced their match on No. 2 wicket on the Park, yesterday. The Stars won the toss, and the winkets nearly the whole of the afternoon, and declared their innings closed with oigbt wickets down for 290. They did not start well us three wickets wore down for 11. Then F. Richards anrl Edwards bocame associated, and tiiey pat a different complexion ou the game. By oapital oriuket they carried the score to .46, before Richards was bowled by Ralph after making 15 in good style. His score Included two 3's, and two 2'e. Edsvarda and Ferry gave another fine exhibition, and took the soore to 70, before Williams disposed of Edwards by a good oatcb. Edwards' scoro of 36 is the bes* exhibition of batting he haa given on the Park. His score included no lea 9 than ten 3's. joind Perry, and a record partnership was established for Thursday cricket. It was not until 228 was on the board that Fysh retired; having been caught by Uren. He made 91 in oapital style, and punished tne towling severely. Fifteen 3's, threo 4's and seven 2's were included in his soore. Esson and Perry continued to bang the bowling about, and carried the soore to 240. Then Esson retired, bowleri by Pragnell, after oontribut ing IB to the total. Perry and Maokellw were associated till 290 was reached, then HhII bowled Perry. The retiring batsman had shown splendid orioket for bis 88 cup. Hisßtroues, like Fysb's, were good all round the wicket. His soore included fourteen S's and five 2*s. Maokellar's 13 was neatly gut. The W.F.O.A. tried no less than eight bowlers. Parton was the most successful, securing 4 wickets for 70. At the end of the day's play W.F.O.A. had lost four wickets for 32.
