THE RECENT FIRE.

SUBSCRIPTION TO ASSIST MR KEEBL.E. A meeting, convened by Mr 0. A. Pownall, to cnsider some means of assisting Mr W. Keeble, who suffered considerable loss through the burning of the stable in Bannister Street, yesterday morning, was held in the Club Hotel last evening. Mr W. 11. Beetham occupied the chair, and there were about 40 present. Messrs R. E. HowelJ, M. 0. O'Oonnell, G. 0. Cork, W. H. Beetbam, and J. W. H. Martin were appointed a committee to draw up subscription lists to obtain funds'to assist Mr Keebie. Mr .7. W. H. Martin was appointed secretary, and Mr W. H. Beetbam treasurer. An offer was received from the Maslerton South Band to give their services for a benefit oonoert. The uffer of the Band was aonjpted with thaoKs, and the following oommitten was appointed to assist the Band in arranging for the oonoert:—'Messrs W. Fly, K Pinhey, R. E. Howell, V. Stains, H FawGett, G. G. Cork, W. Iggulden, H. H. Collins, T. Thompson, D. MoN.air, Sorimgeour, H. Mowlera, N. James, Heggie, H. W. Pownall, K. Mcintosh, M. C O'Oonnell, 0. A. Pownall, VV. H Bill, T. Dtfyer, F. Hill. H. Wooding, W, B. Chennells, Wainohu Te Huki, P. Kirby, Buchanan, W. H. Beetnam, T. Pinkney, 0. Morris and tho Secretary, with ! power to add. It was decided that the committee should meet tonight to make further arrangements. It was decided to invite Mr W. H. Cruickshaak to join the oommittee, as he had already invited subscriptions in connection with the matter. A subscription list was opened in the room and the following donations were received: —W. H. Beetham £5, M. 0. O'Oonnell £2 2s, 0. A. Pownall £2 2s, A. 0. Sorimgeour £2, 2s, J. R. Niool £1 Is, Pinhey Bros. £1 Is, R. Soriveoer £1 Is, Buahanan and Morris £1 Is, Wainohu Te Huki £1 le, G. G.
