SHIPPING INCIDENT AT GENOA.
CAPTAIN DEFIES THE AUTHORITIES. Received November 22, 9.24 a.m. LONDON, November 21. ,The authorities at Genoa detained the Newcastle steamer Briardale for twenty months pending the settlement of a lawsuit. When nonsuited the authorities appealed against the verdict. Captain Henderson thereupon became so disgusted at tbe delays that he engaged a crew and suddenly steamed out ot the harbour during a terrific xthunderstorm, the authorities vainly following the steamer in a boat. The Briardale is in the Tyne.
