A MURDEROUS ATTACK.
Received November 17, 1.14 a.m. SYDNEY, November 16. Whilst Mr Quaine, Deputy-Gover-nor of the Paramatta Gaol, was inspecting the prisoners, a long sentence man, named George Harris, sprang from the line, and struck Quaine heavily in tbe face. Then with toe other hand he stabbed the Deputy-Governor in the breast with a shoemaker's knife. With tbe assistance of tbe warders Harris was disarmed. Quaine received a precarious wound, the knife having penetrated the lungs.
EXECUTION OF A MURDERER. Reoeived November 17, 12.14 a.m. ADELAIDE], November 16. Habbibuld has been executed for murdering bis wife on August. 13th. Death was instantaneous. He was attended on the scaffold by two Mabommedaa priests.
