The air, however, remained very cold, and on Sunday morning we had a heavy frost, which completely laid the potatoes to the ground in places where they were exposed at all, and in most cases will put them back considerably. Influenza is 'very prevalent here just now, and has gone through almost every houße in the plaoe. lu consequence the attendance at the School is lower than it has been for some considerable time. New potatoes are now teing dug up, and should the blight beep away for a time some very good potatoes will be on the market before Christmas. , Mr D. McGregor, of Masterton, officiated at the Presbyterian Church here, yesterday, in the absence of the Rev. J. J. Bates, who is away in Dunedin.
