THE KIEL CANAL.

A modified scheme has been presented which widens the Kiel Canal at a cost of £1,250,000.' The new proposals provide for a side canal, into Eckenfarder Bay, and the River Schlei. It is expected that the alteration will prove of great advantage in the defence of Kiel, if it is ever blockaded.
