GLADSTONE.

GLADSTONE, Wednesday. A draft, of over one thousand 'freezers passed through here last 'Sunday, to be railed from Carterton to the Gear > Meat Company. The sheep were all in the wool, and were a Art-class line. Mr Berrill, of Carterton, who owns the sawmill at Mangahuia, expects to out out the, present bush In about three months' tioie. Unless some more bosh .is then obtained the mill will be removed. Mr J. Strang intends shortly to have the telephone laid c\n to hie homestead from the Gladstone Post Gffloe. This line, if continued, could be taken right through Lingbnab; Tablelands, and on to Martinborough, and would be a boon to settlers. Heavy rain fell here on Monday night, and will do b lot of good to crops in general. Rape is already looking well, and should we get a fairly damp seßßon a large number of lambs will be sent away fat off rape.
