TINNED MEAT INDUSTRY.
STATEMENT BY MR HALDANE. Received November 2, ,9,56 p.m. LONDON, November 2. Id the House of Commons Mr R. B. Haldane, replying to Mr Henniker Beaton, said it was not intended to pufclish Colonel Hobbs' report on the Chicago meat yards. The report is under the oonsideration of the various Government depaitmentej ,and no statement is possible regarding it until the final • decision is reaohed. About three-quarters of a million pounds of Amerioan tinned meat, coating £BO,OOO sterling, is now held by the Army. There was, added Mr Haldane, no present intention of sending an officer to report on the Australian tinned meat industry.
