MILITARISM IN SCHOOLS.

Replying to the criticism ot Mr Keir Hardie, who complained at Bradford that educational authorities had been permitted to introduce drill and rifle shooting into the school syllabus, Mr Birrell, Minister for Education, con. fessed that he dißliked school rifle shooting. Permission, however, had been given in one case as an experiment for a year, and had been given in four other schools as an experiment. Hereafter there would be no further extensions.
