The Washington oorresuondent of The Times reports that the Ameri can Cabinet realises that the exclusion of Japanese children from the white schools is a tlow to Japan's racial and national pride, and that the affront is felt more keenly al~ iroHt than any other kind of insult. CALIFORNIANS OBSTINATE. SITUATION SERIOUS. Received Ootober 30 7.5 a.m. NEW iORK. October 29. The New York Times Washington correspondent declares that President Roosevelt and the Hon. E. Kocfc, Secretary of State, have contemplated the possibility of a serious clash with Japan. The Japanese Ambassßdor's manner and language in interviewing Secretary Root are described as very unusual, and are said to have produoed a decided sensation in the State departments. The Oaliforniana are becoming more obstinate. They threaten that if the Federal courts undertake to enforce the treaty of 1894, there will be immediate hostile demonstrations against the Japanese. It is feared the situation is glowing in seriousness, FEELING AT TOKIO QUIETER. Received October 31/37.30 a.m. LONDON, October 30. The Daily Telegraph reports that the feeling atTokio towards Amerioa is quieter. Japan is relying on President Roosevelt to remedy the injustice.
