RIFLE ASSOCIATION MEETING.

A meeting of delegates from the various volunteer corps in the Bush districts was held at Pahiatua on Friday night. The following were present —Captain Charteis, Masterton; Lieutenants Prooter and Wilson, Pahiatua Rifles; Captain Engstrom, Makuri; Messrs Haines and Reed, Pongnroa; Lieutenant Sturton and Sergeant MoOardle, Pahiatua Mounted Rifles; Mr Alberraen, Turarua Rifle Club. Captain Cnarters wns appointed chairman, and Lieutenant Procter secretary pro ♦eJD. It was moved by Mr Hoed, and seconded by Lieutenant Wilson, "That a Rifle Association te formed in this district, and that the name of the association bo, 'The Bush District Rifle Association. 1 " Carried. The following office-bearers were elected for the ensuing twelve months:—PatroD, Major Bolton; president, Captain Nelson, Woodville; vice-presidents, Messrs G. H. Smith, W. Tosswill, C. Beetbara, J. Breeds, F. C. Turnor, O. Albertsen and Colonel Drummond; executive, Captain Engstrom, Sergeant Marsbuil, Lientonants Sturton, Prooter, Bolton, Wilson, and ColourSergeant Lang. It was resolved that the first annual meeting of the Association be held in Pahiatua on January 22nd and 23rd next. It was decided that the programme be drawn up as follows:—First dayNo. 1 match, 200, 500, and 600 yards, seven shots at- eaoh range. No. 2 match, 500 and 600 yards, ten shots at each range. No. 3 match, 500 and 700 yards, ten shots at each range. Second Day —No. 4 match, 500, 600, and 700 yards, seven shots at eaob range. No. 5 match, 200 and 600 yards, ten shots at each range. Ou the suggestion of Mr Reed it was decided to name the varionri matches as follow:—No. 1, Pahiatua; No. 2, Eketahuna; No. 3, Pongaroa; No. 4, Makuri; No. 5 Woodville.
