THE NEW ZEALAND EXHIBITION.

WILL IT BE READY? Despite nearly everybody else's opinion to tbe contrary Mr Munro, chairman of tbe Executive Commissioners, expresses confidence that everything will be ready by tbe opening day. As a counter-blast to the numerous reports to the contrary, comes the following official statement ou the subject:—"Great efforts are being put forth on all sides to complete tbe Exhibition by opening day. Early tbis week the position was anything but promising, but the result of an announcement by the chairman of the Executive Commlsioners that in terms of rule 2 of official notice, all exhibitors unfinished at ten o'clook on Sunday night would be called upon to oease operations, bad astonishing results. Extra men were put on and longer hours were worked, with the result that it is generally conceded now that the Exhibition will be open in almost perfect order on tbe first proximo. Experienced exhibitors unanimously state that at no previous Exhibition had everything been in suob an advauoed condition at the corresponding time. Persons Interested in the Exhibition are pouring into Cbristohurob from all directions, and one of the largest gatherings ever seen in the colony is promised on opening day."

Up to date the Director of Exhibits has reoeived and delivered twentyeight thousand tons of exhibits. There appears to be more trouble brewing over tbe methods of the obairman of the Executive Commissioners. A PreßS Association message states, with reference to tbe rumoured resignation of some of tbe Executive Commissioners, tbat it is understood that the Commissioners are dissatisfied Kith Mr Munro'a method of conducting the Exhibition business. It is alleged that Mr Munro, the Chairman of Commissioners, is not conducting the affairs of the Exhibition on business lines. The Commissioners propose to discuss tha matter with tha Premier when he arrives on Tuesday, and have resolved tbat if the Exhibition is not to be run on business lines they dc not want to have anything more to do with it. It ia understood that the atmosphere at Executive Committeo meetings has been rather heated, and interesting developments are expeotod.
