For the oponinc of the racing carnival showery weather prevailed. The 1010 Welter brought out a field of twenty-five. The race was run in driving rain. There was a great rash to see Solution, wbu was sold to Mr "Paddy" Reynolds, proprietor of tho Cathedral Hotel, Melbourne, for four thousand guineas. The money was pnid three hours before the race. Menschikoff, formerly a New Zealand crack, who has been at the stud for live years, also attracted attention jrhou be appeared bandaged. Results—lolo Welter Haudioap—Twostep 1, Pistol 2. Trelo Vonnis 3. Won by a length and a half. Time, lmin *32seo. Debutante Stakes. —Tarrangon 1, Soobie 2, Aloaaba 3. Eight others started. t Won by a length and a hhlf. Time, sl3*.'seo.
CAULFIELD STAKES. Solution Dividend Simoda
Ten others' started. EIIh got away, followed by Solution. The latter lea into the straight, followed by Dividend, Ellis and Proceeder. Solution won by two lengths, four lengths dividing the second and third horses. Time, lmiu 57J-4S6C.
Ringwood Steeplechase.—Kargaratta 1, Federation 2, Tarpon 3. six others started. Error, Warmur and Larboard foil. Won by two lengths. Time, 3tniri sdsec. Oaulfled Guineas. Boorau 1, Ebullition 2, OreilJet 3. Oreillet got away from Boorau. .Ebullition soon took the lead, with Booran close up. This order was maintained round the railway side, a length separating them, with Collarifc o length in the rear. At the distance Eooran overtook Ebullition and wou by tbree lengths from Ebullition, Oreillet three-quarters of a length away. Tpornk Handicap.—-Tolare 1, The 'Castaway 2, Katoomba 3. fifteen others started. Won by two lengths, a length and a second and third. Time, ltnm 44^sec.

Owing to an oversight on the part of the haudicappar (Mr J. H. Pollock), the uamea ot tho horses Devouia (7.8) and Marstono (7.0) were omitted from tho October Hack Handicap in the list of weights for the Masterton P.aoiug Club's spring meeting which was published in the Wairarapa Age on Saturday Jiioruioß.
