MONTHLY MEETING
The monthly meeting of tho General Committee of the Masterton A and P. Association was held on Saturday afternoon. There we:e present—Messrs R. Gray (uhairman), J. D. Cruiokshank, J. Stuakey, C. E. Daniell, J. O. Ooorer, P. C. Lewis, J. McGregor, T. P. Lett, D. McGregor, jur., R. .Johustone, J. F. Heckler, A. G. PUmei', Joseoh Mqrris, J. P. Perry, J. Strang, W. Ferry, W. McKenzie, D. Caselberg, W. D. Watson, Ji. Rayner, J. B. Moodis, J. O. MafiiUop, O. O. Cooper. gj The Finance Committee submitted the following financial statement:— Or balance at September Bth, £332 fis 6d; expenditure for month, £63 9s lOd; receipts for tbo month, £IG 18a; or balance, £378 38s 4d; cheques outstanding, £45 10s; or balance at date, £333 8a report of the Committee was adopted. ■ The Ground Cooimitt'e recopmended the following improvements to the new grandstand :—(l) That a new floor bo puc in, and tbe roof , be lifted, also that attention be given to the question«of the alteration of the steps in front of thi grandstand; . (2) that the dining-room be not interfered with; (3) that a nub-com-mittee, consisting of Messrs D. McGregor, jnr., O. E. Daniell VV. Perry and R. Gray, have plans and estimates prepared for the proposed sanitary arrangements and alterations to the grandstand, and report to the next meotiug. The report was adopted. The Ground Committee were authoribed tu have plana and specifications prepared for the complete drainage of the grounds, and to work carried out immediately, provided that the aost did not exceed £3OO. A letter was received from the Canterbury A. and P. Asaouiation enclosing complimentary tickets tor the International. Show, to be held in Christoburoh during tbe Exhibition. It was stated that any member of the Committee of tho Association would be famished with complimentary tiokets on applhalion to the Secretary. It was decided to thank the Canterbury Association for their offer.
The Horse Parade ommittee recommended that a meeting of the Horse Parade Committee and the horse-ownors of the district be held at least two mouths prior to the next horse parade in order to see what arrangements should be made in connection with the next parade. The recommendation was approved of. In accordance with lis notice of motion, Mr G. C. Suminoreli moved that the clause "if previously won a prize, not eligible to compete" be deleted from the fat uattle class for the coming Show. The motion was carried. A motion by Mr Stuokey that any fat beast winning a first prize at the Mastertou Show bo not eligible to compete in the same class at any future Show was lost, on a division being taken, by ouo vote.
The Secretary was instructed to write to the Mnstertoa Borough Oouuoil asking that the footpath leading to the Showrgounda be improved. Messra W. Rummer ami Maokay and Wishaw were elected members. The resignations of Mesara G. H. Day and H. Monro were accepted.
