MASTERTON SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Mas* tertou Sodool Committee was held last evening when there were present —Messrs R. Brown (chairman), W. Gillespie, Jtl. O'Leary, J. Carpenter* G. Townaend, 0. Perry, T. Dunuan. An apology for absence was received from Mr E. H. Waddington. The Treasurer reported a credit balance of £2l 7s 5(1. Acoounts amounting to £l9 14s Id were passed for payment. The Treasurer also reported that the 'Trust Lands Trust grant and subsidy were in the hands of the Education Board. The secretary was instructed to write to the Board and Mr A. W. Hogp, M.H.R., to expedite the forwarding of the money to the committee. A letter was received from the secretary of the Navy League, Wellington, asking the committee to form a branoh of the League at the school. it was decided to request the ohairman and headmaster to endeavour to form a branob of the League at the school. A committee, consisting of Messrs Brown, O'Leary and Carpenter, was appointed to arrange for the building ot a propagating bous-* at the subool. Mr Duncan stated that he had had very great pleßsure in attending the banquet reaently given at tbe school by Jfche members of the cookery class. In moving a hearty vote of thanks to the headmaster and tbe instructress of the class (MissTalbot) he referred in complimentary terms to the cooking, waiting and general demeanour of the girls engaged. It was decided , to convey tbj heartiest congratulations of the committee to the headmaster and Miss Talbot. Tbe visiting members are Messrs Perry, Townaend and Waddingtoa. y'" -
