WHITWORTH COLLIERIES.
REPORTED PURCHASE BY GERMANS. Receive; 3 , October 10, 8.40 a.m. LONDON, October 9. The Daily Mail states that the Germans have gradually purchased the shares of the original owners of the Whitworth collieries in Neath, embraoing an area of twelve square miles, estimated to contain 375,000,000 tons of the finest smokeless coal. The British directors have been summoned to resign in favour of German representatives. A quarter of a million has, the Mail says, been paid for the estate.
