THE COLONY'S REVENUE.

By Telegraph—Peres Association. WELLINGTON, October 10. In an interview this evening, Sir Joseph Ward furnished some figures with regard to the colony's revenue for the six months. He gave the following details--Six months'ended September 30tb, 1906, Conaoliduted Fund, ordinary revenue—Customs £1,354,073, Stamps £563,402, Post and Telegraph £61,573, Land Tax £4,414, Income Tax £10,432, Beer Duty £45.404, Railways £1,158,169, registration and other fees £64,050, Marine £18,739, miscellaneous £105,305; territorial revenue, cash land saleß £16,497, deferred payment land sales £1,210, pastoral rents, etc., £79,294. Total, £3,482,569. "This result is simply splendid," remarked the Premier, "and it will, 1 am sure, ba received with gratification throughout the oountry. The buoyanoy of the revenue is, to my mind, marvellous. Bach year we think that we have got to the top only to find that ii the succeeding months the revenue still keep 9 on increasing. If wo go on anything approaching the same'results it is quite evident that at the end of the finanoial year the colony will again be in a highly satisfactory position to meet the many useful calls that ( our people require iu connection with the public services and undertakings that ate so necessary for the State's development."
