LAND BILL.

A meeting, convened by tbe Farmers' Union, held to day, to con. aider the proposals in the Land Bill, passed the following resolution:— "That this meeting of farmers and others desires to express its strong disapproval of the proposed alterations in the land laws of the colony as set oat in!the Land Bill, and is of opinion that proposals of sd drastic and far-reaohiug a measure should not be passed into law until the country has bad a fuller op portunity of considering the measure.'* DUNEDIN, September 29. At a meeting of the Palmerston branch of the Farmers' Union, the new Land Bill was adversely criticised, and it was resolved :—"That tbb branch strongly protests against the Land Bill as formed by the Minister for Lands, and oonsideis that time should have been ghen to. the farming community to thoroughly conaidev the matter before such an important and farreaching measure becomes law; that the Bill is strongly opposed to the evidence given by farmers before the Land Commission." It was resolved to ask Mr T. McKenzie, M.H.R., to oppose the passing of tbe Bill this year.
