CHURCH MISSIONARY ASSOCIATION.
ADDRESS BF THE REV. A. QAMtfLE. The Rev. Alfred Gamble, who has recently been appointed Organising Secretary of the New Zealand Church Missionary Association," gave an address to the members of the Gleaners' Union yesterday afternoon, in 8. Matthew's Vestry. There was a fair attendance. In the course of his remarks the speaker said that hiA Association maintained fourteen missionaries, five labouring amongst tbe Maoris, two in Melanesia, and seven in Africa, India and Japan. Six fresh offers of service had been received, and the support of the various congregations was necessary in order that the new candidates may be trained, and also maintained in the foreign field. At tbe close of a most stimulating aud instructive address, Mr Gamble promised to visit Masterton again, it possible, in a few months, when at the invitation of the Rev. A. M. Johnson be will preaob on a Sunday and lecture the following evening. The Hpeaker was accorded a hearty vote of thanks for bis address.
