WAR AGAINST OPIUM.

PEKIN, September 22. In oonsequence of recommendations made by the Chinese Commissioners who have been touring the United States, Europe, and England, the Viceroys Ynan-shih-kal and Tang-sha-yi were consulted, and as a result an Imperial edict has been issued abolishing, within ten years, the use of opium by both the foreign and native population. The ediot strongly condemns the evils of "this foreign drug," and orders regulations to enforce its suppression.
