(From Our Own Correspondent.) Monday. Ou Friday last several presentations were made to Dr. Hunter who ia leaving the district and go ing to Glasgow to study. In the morning the popular medico was the recipient of a handsome presentation from the members of the Ladies' Ambulance Corps- In the afternoon, Mr H. A. Nevius, on behalf of the people of the district, presented Dr. Hunter with a purse of soveriegns. At the Foresters' Ball Dr. Hunter was presented with a handsome clock from f the sporting fraternity. Mr H. ' Morrison, in making the presentation said that one and all deeply regretted. the departure of the Doctor. "Ab a medical practitioner we all know hia value," said the speaker. "As a sportsman Dr. Hunter is second to none, in fact, our guest has fceen a bright light in all amusements but he never onoe neglected uis duties for sport." In asking Dr. Hunter to accept the email token of esteem, th<* speaker said it was from the members of the Hunt Club, Atblatio Club, Racing Club, Football Club, Cricket Club, and Glee Club. Dr. Hunter -suitably replied. The ?4th annual Foresters' Ball was heid last Friday evening and was a deoided sucoess. This popular gathering has loug been the leading ball of tbe district and refleots great credit on past and present committees. The hall was artistically decorated by Mrs Crawford. The Forester's Banner was surrounded with magnifloeat stag's heads and made a very appropriate picture. There'were many handsome dresses worn by the ladies. The, popular Secretary, Mr S. Sohofield had all the arrangements oomplete, while the M'sO., Messrs J. Wingate and E. Sohofleld carried out their duties in a capable manner. Firct-olass musio was supplied by Mr F. MoKenzie.
