OBITUARY.

MK G. M. R. DRUMMOND,

An old and highly-respected resident of the Wairarapa, Mr G. M. B. Urummond, I died yesterday at his residence, Otahuao. The deceased was born at Wellington in 1845, and was the second son of the late Mr Donald Drummond, one of the earliest settlers in Wellington, he having arrived in the colony in the third vessel that brought the New Zealand Land Uompany's immigrants. The deceased came to the Wairarapa in the early sixties, and had been engaged in sheep-farming first at Kahumingi and later at Otahuao, which property he has occupied, under lease, for over 20 years. The late Mr Drummond was well known throughout the whole distriot, and although he did not take any part in publio affairs, his opinion en matters relating to stock was much Bocght after. He had been in fail ing health for some years, tut the immediate cause of death was paralysis. He was unmarried, bat had many relations, both in the North and South Islands. Mr John Drummond, stock inspeotor,of Wellington, and Mr P M. Drummond, surveyor, of Greytown, are brothers of the deceased, and Mrs D. MoMaster, of the Lower Valley, is.a Bister. The funeral will take plaoe tomorrow, leaving Otahuao for the Masterton Cemetery at 1 p.m.
