THE NAVAL AGREEMENT.
Received August 30, 10.17 p.m. LONDON, August 30. The Times, commenting on its Australian correspondent's declaration that the naval agreement between Great Britain and the Convnonwealth is unpopular, states that any scheme advooated by tho best local authorities has received attentive, even sympathetic, consideration. The paper believes' that there is no foundation for the saying that Captain Oresswell's scheme was peremptorily and contemptuously rejected. The report of the Committee of Imperial Defence em bodied merely a friendly opinion given solely because the Commonwealth solicited it.
