WOOL, SKIN AND HIDE SALES. M ABTERTO N W fi DN ES D A Y. Messrs Levin and Co. Ltd., report: —We bold our monthly sale of wool skin bides and tallow, yesterday, offering 15 bales of wool, 63 bags wool, 2,600 sheepskins and a quantity of rabbit skins, horsehair, tallow aud 250 bides. There was a gcod muster of buyers and bidding was keen in the lower levels wbioh have been established at other centres during the past few weeks. As compared with our last sale crutchings showed a fall of Id per lb, and skins fell from l)<>d to 2d per lb. We quote:—Wool: Crossbred fleece B%d to 9d, crossbred lambs 8d to 9d, best crutcbinga (none offering), medium crutchings, to 6%d, inferior and seedy 3%d to Gd, lcoks and pieces! d to s}£d. Skins: good crossbreds to B%f, half wools 8d to dead skins to dead hoggets to 7%d, lamb skins to B%d, green skins 6s to 7s 7d. Bides: There was a fail entry of hides, aud as vendors in the district are learning the advantage of paying more attention to the saving and curing of hides, the condition of the bides offered is improving, with the result that buyers are paying more attention to this branch of the aales, and better prices are being realised. Wo quote: —Best ox 25s to 26s 6d, medium ox 23s to 24s 6d, light ox, 20s tc 22s 6d, cows 15s to 23 GJ, bulls 20s to 235, yearlings 0s to 9s 6d, calf skins Is to 5s 6d, inferior and damaged hides at lower rate*. Tallow: Good demand at advancing prices, lu uasks 20s to 22s 6d per cwt., tins 18s to 19s 3d, rough fat 14s 6d to 14s 9d. Horsehair, Is 4d to Is per lb. The next sale is fixed for October 10th, at 12.30 p.m. , The Wairarapa Farmers' Co-oper- ' afcive Association, Ltd., in conjunction with Messrs Dalgety and Co., held their monthly wool, ekin and hide sale, yesterday. They renrn't as follows—There was a large attendance of buyers, and bidding was keen. Prices, v»e are sorry to say, were below those realised at our last sale. W°> offered 2,000 sheepskins,
25 bales and 60 bags of wool, mostly arutohinga, 450 bides, and a few horseskins aud rabbitskms. As under we quote prioes realised—Fleeoe wool 7%d to 9d, orutobings, good s>£d to oratobings, seedy 4%d to dead wool 5%d to 7d, lambs wool 9d. Horae bair, Is to Is 4d. Kabbitakins, 7}£d. Skins: Crossbreds, good orossbreds, green 5s 4d to 7s 7d", urossbred, dead 6d to 7d, seedy orossbreds 7d, orosabred, aborts 7d to 7%d, hoggets, dead to one double fleeoe realised 15s 6d, pelts Is to 2s 2d. Hides: Good ox 20a to 245, medium 15s to 19s, heavy cow 20s to 225, medium cow 13s to 16s 6d, ox,' alippy 14a to 20s Gd, oow, slippy 17s to 19s, bull, 20a to 255, yearlings la 7d to 7s, yearlings, slippy 4s Id to Gs sd, oaives la 4d to 2a 2d. STOCK SALE. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd , held their fortnightly sale, yesterday. They report:—'An average entry of sheep aud cattle came torward. Bidding waa alack for both class of stock; only h few lots of each were sold under the hammer. Pigs, however, suld well, and wore in great demand, every lot reaching over the reserve. We quoteFat and forward wethers 17s 6d, store cows £2 6s, yearling steers (medium) £1 7s Gd; pigs, slips from 8s 9d to 12s.
